Looking for the perfect, cozy space to call your own? Or maybe some inspiration for your future home? Here we provide you with comfy, serene cottage core houses that you’ll want to move into right away. Or, at the very least, pin on your Pinterest boards to emulate in your own adorable home sooner or later.
I believe the cottagecore aesthetic and lifestyle truly blossomed during the pandemic in 2020. We were all forced to stay indoors, with our families, and find things to do. We even got tired of the same ol’ electronic routine. And many of us took to learning new skills and hobbies like playing guitar, baking homemade bread, painting, gardening, and knitting. Because we were forced to slow our lives down, we somehow took on a new approach to life: a more simple, wholesome approach. One that mimicked the eras of our ancestors. And many of us became attracted to a vibe online called cottagecore. A comfortable and serene lifestyle that includes fashion, home decorations, hobbies, and beauty.
Now some of us haven’t just began dressing in cottagecore fashion and making homemade pies, but go to the next level and actually fantasize and plan out our futures in the perfect little cottage core house like the ones below.
The serene cottage core house with its old world garden above is absolutely a place where I’d spend all of my time in the Spring and Summer! Notice the pink hollyhocks and goldenrod? These particular flowers were quite popular in centuries gone by, particularly in the Victorian era, a time period that inspires the cottage core houses today. Not to mention, an old world garden attracts pollinators like butterflies and bees.
I think one of my favorite things about cottage core houses is the old world shutters. The dark green shutters in the house above in number 2 pop against the white paint and blend beautifully with the green wild garden growing all around. And if you want to add an extra accent of color, paint one feature of your home a bright red like the house above. And let some of the vinery grow up the side.
Now this is a cottage core style house that you’d see anywhere in the U.S.A. It’s simple but cute and cozy. Any cottage made of bricks is sturdy, so it can withstand storms if you live in an area that receives harsh weather conditions. I love how the door is split so that you can open the entire door OR just the top half. It reminds me of a barn door. You could open the top half in the Spring and Summer to let the breeze and sunshine in. And something as simple as a pot of cheery flowers and a watering can really set off the cottagecore vibes.
The cottage core house above is something straight out of a Grimms’ Fairy Tale, don’t you think? This look might be hard to pull off if you don’t live in the Black Forest or in the mountains of Switzerland. BUT you can emulate the color palette with chocolate browns and cheerful yellows. AND by encircling your cottage with a stone pathway and flowers, really pull this style off at your own place one day.
With the housing market like it’s been the past few years, we’re lucky to have a place to live at all. But some of us had the advantage and were able to buy little rental properties and fixer uppers amidst the housing market madness. What if you came across the little cottage core house above? Honestly, I would die to have a fixer upper like this one. Imagine how beautiful it would be with a fresh coat of paint, shutters, and a garden wrapping around the side. It has lots of potential, a tin roof, and comfy cozy vibes all around.
No cottage core house would be complete without it’s very own greenhouse or she-shed. Take inspiration from the open greenhouse patio above with its distressed paintjob, wooden floorboards, and bohemian style accent chair. Notice the antique egg basket sitting by the door and cheerful child’s flower art in the window.
When I think of the perfect cottage core house, I think of some place that’s so comfortable when I step in I want to curl up and read a book. Or fall asleep in a reading nook. That’s what the picture above says to me – come home. Pull up a chair and sip your tea. Eat a snack. Just be.
I think the shabby chic style mixes with the cottage core house style effortlessly. If you prefer the feminine side of cottage core, do your searching for shabby chic furniture and decor when you begin filling your home with pretties. Take the picture above as an example: wicker furniture, flirty floral patterns, and all light color palette.
On the flip side, you don’t have to go completely feminine to achieve the cottage core house vibes. Check out the picture above. This is more of a retro, antique man’s den aesthetic and I’m digging it. Remember, cottagecore as a home style is all about bringing back the old school, simple and comfortable. If you have a husband who prefers his space, set up his man cave to include all of his favorite retro things: record albums, antique plaid chairs, reading lamp and bookshelves.
And last but not least, a pristine cottage core house with the bathroom straight out of a movie. All white tile (which I feel would be hard to keep clean but more power to you) AND a stunning claw-foot tub. When I’m on my deathbed, please put me in this tub. I’d like to be there when I breathe my last breath. And yes you can still get this type of bathtub for your own cottage core house today. When you step out the bathtub, put on your prettiest fairycore dress and get going!
